Dragonforce - Ultra Beatdown

Could Dragonforce be the most over-the-top power metal band in existence? From the layered soaring singing, to the insanely busy intent of the band - drums pulsing faster than any other power metal band, with riffs and solos going at top speed requiring only the most dexterous skill. Even when the action slows down, there’s tons of instruments for support, including a touch of 80’s synth bands as well, all wrapped up in a glossy package.
It’s all pretty fun, probably due to the fact that the album is so nuts that it’s funny, but at the same time, most of the melodies - be they vocal, guitar or keyboard oriented - somehow feel recycled either from the 80’s or from other countless power metal bands. Sure, it’s presented in a slightly different package, but you can’t help but feel you’ve heard this somewhere before. Of course the familiarity is probably part of the attraction as well, because as much as roller coaster rides appear dangerous, they’re in fact quite safe.
Overall, it’s still pretty fun for those metal fans who’re about to get dressed up for a night on the town.
