Zozobra - Bird of Prey

There are a lot of bands that fit into that crazy world started by Neurosis. I’d say that Zozobra probably come a bit closer to quicker versions of Isis or Cult of Luna, or slightly softer Engineer due to the slower songs and slightly fuzzier guitars. This crazy “Bird of Prey” beast enjoys roaming around a crazy landscape, accenting it mostly with biting barks, and a hint of singing thrown in every now and then. The constant flow of vocals really gives this album some direction and a better sense of purpose, as most of these metalgaze bands prefer to spend their time building atmospheres rather than living in them.
To end, Zozobra does inhabit that world of metalgaze, albeit in a more mid to quick paced manner than the rest of their brethren, while still managing to throw some tiny left turns in.
