Exmortus - In Hatred’s Flame

It’s been awhile since I’ve heard an American band with any Swedish influence at all release an album that actually gains some attention and interest. Probably due to the fact that said bands became pretty run-of-the-mill during the whole love affair with melodic death metal in 2004.
What Exmortus have done is to take top speed thrash with some melodies and harmonies floating around in mix with those raw sounding amps cranked up full-tilt and shoved right up front. Top that off with some scathing vocals reminiscent of John Pettibone, and you’ve got yourself a roller coaster ride that’s both on fire, while also raw enough that you could swear the rusty wheels and rails could fall apart at any minute - oh the danger!
I can easily see this band filling the gap that will soon be left when Himsa breaks up, as the formula is the same without Exmortus actually attempting to copy Himsa. Flame on!
