American Speedway - Ship of Fools

Occasionally you can kind of tell what the band is going to sound like from they’re name. Let’s take American Speedway for instance. The name cries out brisk American rock n’ roll! As I listened through the ten tracks of “Ship of Fools”, the name accurately represents.
American Speedway plays the type of aggressive bar rock that really makes you want to call your friends over, break open the keg and create your own air band. From the very first blazing, haughty guitar riff to the very last mid-tempo, high energy tune, these guys execute everything like a well oiled rock and roll machine, excuse the cliché. Their guitars are heavy and dirty, and the vocals bear a close resemblance to AC-DC and MC5. But unlike most other AC-DC rip off bands, American Speedway plays with the same riff-heavy attitude as their American predecessor.
This is one of the few rock albums that will be frequently played in my punk and hardcore collection.
