My Shameful - Descend

It seems like the world of doom has evolved it’s own standards in terms of execution. It’s to the point now where certain bands are trying to nail certain stock audio musings rather than push forward. The reason why I’m stating this is because I’m starting to become familiar with the particular style of doom/death My Shameful is portraying on “Descend”. Right from the start, the long, droning buzz-saw guitars sticking mostly to low chords, trying to make each chord count with depressing melodies is familiar. It’s to the point where it’s become modern doom/death guitars and ultra low growling are meeting up with old-school Paradise Lost, which is sort of cool in one sense, because there’s a few who really miss the good old Paradise Lost.

Unfortunately some of that depressing emotion gets lost a little bit in trying to take on the bands influences rather trying to interpret the feeling straight out. The translation also gets lost a bit with the slightly lacking production as well.
