Corporation 187 - Newcomers Of Sin

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that Anticulture Records is the future of metal. From off-the-wall crossbreeds, to bands going beyond metalcore to a post-metalcore world, to going as far to reach to Japan to find the next creative upgrade to death metal, this label impresses me with every release. It actually makes me wonder why Earache would allow a band like Corporation 187 to escape from their grasp. The band does however fit with the forward moving and very metallic ideals of Anticulture though.
Many people characterise Corporation 187 as thrash, and certainly some elements in the playing fit that description, but the musical inspiration is just that, truly inspired, as to describe what’s going on can only be summed up not just by stating that “Newcomers Of Sin” sounds like the band isn’t just colouring outside the lines, they’re making their own colouring book with quick piercing tones and subtle sense of melody. That piercing also goes for those high throat-shredding vocals. Wrecking ones voice is almost always a sign of conviction in my book, and it certainly pours off the vocalist.
Already there’s been a few albums which will likely end up on my year end list for 2008, and “Newcomers Of Sin” has become a strong contender.
