The Devil And The Sea - Heart Vs. Spine

Lets be honest here, people that know me know that I love music the punishes me. I love getting that constant fist-fight from Suffocation and Hate Eternal. I love being stabbed by Ion Dissonance and Destroyer Destroyer. I love being crushed by Cult Of Luna. I love being dragged through a sea of broken glass by Khanate. Speaking of broken glass, one of the originators of such destructive music is Slayer, who’s 1986 album “Reign In Blood” is a whirlwind of the tempered substance. This is why “Heart Vs. Spine” is one of the greatest vile creations ever made. It squashes you with tons of force, impales you on rusty dissonant spikes, and drags you slowly across hot coals on the 2 closing songs, the 14 minute title track, and the 17 minute “Abra Cadaver”.

If you’re wondering what this sounds like, don’t, because you won’t be able to guess. Just get it, and you’ll hate it, as you drag yourself through, yet still keep you ears glued just as you’d keep your eyes glued to that horrible car crash because you’re so intrigued. Just like the first time you heard The Dillinger Escape Plan. That’s also why you will love it.
